Week 4
During week 4, the group designated the original idea of the pie server and scissors combination as a backup plan. That idea will be saved just in case the new idea fails. For the new idea, the design involves a device that can be held in one hand which consists of a fork connected to a separate curved and serrated knife. This curved knife is attached to a slider which allows it to be retractable. This week's work consisted of finalizing the design for the device and decisions related to CAD modelling of the device. The group also began to design the device, research materials and the acquisition of them.

Week 3
In the lab this week we continued to model the device in Creo. There was a realization that it was unclear whether or not our idea was functional. Outside of the lab, it was necessary . A model may be required in order to test that, but in order to make a model, scissors which won't be acquired until next week are necessary. In case the initial idea does not work, it was decided that alternative ideas should be looked into.

Week 2
During the lab period in week 2, the group discussed in further detail what the design will be, as well as the deliverables. The timeline was reviewed again and some tasks for the next weeks were detailed. Construction of a 3D model of the design in Creo Parametric began. Group 6 also welcomed a new member to the group, Shashank Ganesan. He was caught up with what the design is and he, as well as other group members, added their input to ways that the design can be improved.

Week 1
Group 6 was formed during the time in ENGR 103 lab and we decided upon a topic. It was decided to address the issue of people who only have use of one hand trying to eat food in public. It must be very difficult to eat something like a steak in a civilized manner with only the use of one hand and not attract a lot of attention. The design planned is essentially a pie cutter tool with a pair of strong scissors in the center. The proposed design was further discussed on the weekend during one of our meetings outside of the lab period. The design proposal was also completed during this meeting.
